Finding calm in everyday life

Ro is designed for young people struggling with pressure and stress. It's packed to the brim with everything from mindfulness to simple study techniques. I've been responsible for the entire digital design, user experience, and the technical project management and coordination with the external agency that developed the technology.

The thinking behind the app

Ro was built in close collaboration with the young people who will use it in their everyday lives, along with input from their student counselors.

Our design process for the Ro app was deeply rooted in user-centered design. We started with paper prototypes to quickly explore different ideas and concepts. This allowed us to iterate rapidly and effectively while gaining valuable feedback from our target group of young users.

  • Interactive prototypes. After the initial paper prototypes, we created interactive digital prototypes. This allowed us to test more complex interactions and gain a deeper understanding of the user experience.
  • Extensive user testing. We conducted multiple rounds of user testing with young people from the target group. These tests focused on everything from interaction design to the app's content, ensuring that every aspect of the app was thoroughly evaluated.
  • Iterative improvement. Based on feedback from user tests and insights from student counselors, the app went through several iterations. This ensured that the final product truly met the users' needs and expectations.

Throughout the design process, our focus was on creating an app that was not only functional but also engaging and relevant to our young users. We placed particular emphasis on making the app intuitive and easy to navigate, while also ensuring that the content was meaningful and helpful to the target audience.

Cross-disciplinary collaboration

The development of the Ro app was a cross-disciplinary effort involving designers, developers, psychologists, and educational counselors. This diverse approach ensured that the app was not only technically sound and visually appealing, but also pedagogically grounded and psychologically supportive. By bringing together different areas of expertise, we created an app that can truly make a difference in young people's lives.
