Turn off your brain

2000

Learn to let the words (and your creativity) run free.

Write more freely – start here

2,000 characters is a writing exercise that helps you practice thinking and writing more freely.

Because yes, that takes practice.

Too often, we get stuck in our own heads. We worry if the result is good enough, instead of focusing on what we actually want to say.

We get tangled up in what we want our words to achieve.

That means we:

  • struggle to get the words out of our heads
  • start deleting before we’ve even written anything
  • doubt our own writing

In short: you end up writing and editing at the same time. That’s frustrating—because those are two completely different mindsets. It kills your flow. And makes it hard to get anything done.

2,000 characters helps you silence your inner critic. Because, quite simply, you can’t edit.

How the tool works

Once you start writing, two things happen:

  • Your words are blurred out—you can’t read what you’re writing.
  • You can’t edit the text you've already written.

Only when you’ve written 2,000 characters does your text become visible again. And of course, you can then copy and take it with you.

The tool is “just” a text field. Everything you write is yours. I can’t see or save anything.
